Me in full flight, with Chris Wallace-Crabbe attending closely.

My translation-with-commentary of Beowulf was launched last night at the Collected works Bookshop.  Kris and Loretta hosted what proved a well attended and lively do.

The author? Oh, that would be me.

Many thanks to them and all who attended, with a special shout to my Canberra buddy from ANU, Chris Bishop, who came down to do the introductory honours.

Anyone for Beowulf . . . Again?

seamus heaney beowulfI’ve had a number of requests to reprise the six-session course I taught last year on Beowulf, which used Seamus Heaney’s translation (published by Faber & Faber in 1999) as its text. Sutton.Hoo.ShoulderClasp2.RobRoyI’m about to book a room for it, and it would be helpful to know roughly how many of you might be interested, so, if you are, let me know, along with what days of the weeks might best suit your schedule.SeamusHeaneyAuthorPic

They can’t yet show A Far Light ’cause it’s not yet officially published, so all you get is a few pics and my very first book,  An Index of Theme and Image to the Homilies of the Anglo-Saxon Church (1995).  For completists and the not-faint-of-heart only!  And, ok, the pic to the right is not Amazon books. No Time for Sitting Still!

Nearing the end of proofing A Far Light and uploading its files to the publisher, I’m getting a bit broody over my next book, The Fetters in the Frost.  16,000 words in, I’ve had to put the manuscript aside to finish current business, but I’m keen to get back to it.  All in good time, my pretty . . .
